Joyce Wynes has exhibited her acrylic paintings in numerous juried, group and solo shows in galleries and museums in New York, California, North Carolina and South Carolina. Her paintings have been included in museum juried shows in San Bernardino County Museum, San Bernardino, CA; Cayuga
Museum of History and Art located in Auburn, NY; and Fayetteville Museum of Art, Fayetteville, NC. Her Bearden-inspired collage was chosen through a competition sponsored by Creative Loafing Magazine and the Mint Museum to be shown in December 2011-January 2012 at the Mint Museum Uptown in Charlotte, NC during the Romare Bearden “Southern Reflections” Exhibition. Wynes’s paintings are held in various collections including locally in Charlotte, NC, WFAE 90.7 (NPR in Charlotte & Hickory, NC) and Crossroads Charlotte. She was the recipient of 1st place awards in juried shows to include WFAE’s Radiovision Juried Exhbition and Cayuga Museum of History and Art’s 12 County Juried Show (in Auburn, NY). Her other awards include a 2012 Arts and Science Council Regional Grant, as well as, an ASC/Creative Capital 3-day Workshop held in May 2012. She was also the recipient of another 3-day Creative Capital Workshop sponsored by the Arts and Science Council (Mecklenburg County) in a juried competition several years ago.
Wynes was born in Niagara Falls, New York and received her BA in Fine Arts from Nazareth College of Rochester, where she was chosen to receive the Gertrude Ford Award, given to one graduating senior for excellence in art. Currently she is being represented by Xanadu Gallery located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Her floral greeting card line and reproduction fine art prints, in part made possisble by the ASC Grant, can be purchased in boutique art and craft stores in various cities around Charlotte including the Mint Museum Uptown retail shop.
